The Enviroloo is a waterless biological toilet system designed to convert human wastes into an inoffensive dry stabilised material. The design facilitates rapid separation of liquids and solids into a sealed unit which does not allow leakage of contents or flooding from outside.
Recommendations
The following are recommendations for the successful introduction of the Enviroloo:
- The introduction of the Enviroloo should be revised and put through the national approval process in order to align with national policies.
- Improvement of the spare part supply chain, including local manufacturing of spare parts and marketing, is required to take the technology to scale.
- A study should be conducted to ascertain claims that units installed in the Middle Belt and Southern Zone of Ghana do better than those in the Northern Zone and the reasons for this.
